What Inspires Me?/Written Evidence
My investigation is about emotions. I wanted to try and visualize what emotions would look like personified. I worked to try and communicate what emotion I had drawn by considering aspects of the person such as their facial expression, what clothes they wore, gender, age, pose, lighting, and body type. As an example, for Anger I drew him in a stiff position with a muscular body and a snarling face. These features are meant to emphasize the tense feelings that come along with anger. Another example is Apathy. Apathy being a lack of passion, I decided to drew it as a humanoid robot with a neutral face. You can see this process carried out through all of my other pieces. Some pieces were hard to visualize not just for their technical difficulty, but because I wanted to make a distinction between the personification of an emotion and a person who simply is expressing that emotion. You can see this struggle in pieces like Joy, which while being one of the better looking art works does not make itself look like anything more than a happy woman.
